Greetings fellow "not affected by the mydoom virus" linux users,
Just wanted to let everyone know the movement to keep the LUG alive
lives on. After our first meeting in 2004 - it has become aparent the
need truely exists for a technically oriented local gathering. We had 5
attend the meeting and several responded with conflicting schedules but
wanted to be involved.
At this point, just to keep the momentum going...I will host another
meeting near the end of February. Is there a night of the week that
works better than Tuesday?
In an effort to increase attendance and involvement within some form of
technically oriented local gathering, I have discussed with the
presendent of the NEWNUG (Novell Users Group) the possiblitiy of merging
(specifically the meetings). Their meetings rarly revolve around Novell,
but more specifically networking. Additionally, with the movement of
Novell toward Linux - the topics would most likly cover both realms. The
NEWNUG currently meets the 2nd tuesday of each month in Appleton, we
were thinking we could alternate meeting locations between App and GB to
help bring meetings closer to attendees and expand our coverage area for
both UGs.
Please let me know how you feel about attending meetings, working
towards increasing membership, and finally the merging with NEWNUG.
The goal is NOT to have Novell take over the LUG, but rather to develope
a more generic networking oriented group.
Thank you for your time,
Don
