At this Saturday's meeting of the Milwaukee LUG, I'll be showing Ubuntu,
the Linux distro that's become so popular recently. Since one of
Ubuntu's goals is ease of use, this should be a good presentation for
less technical users. I also plan to show Automatix, an automated GUI
tool for installing additional software and tweaking Ubuntu (this gets
you the MS TT fonts, Java, DVD tools, etc.).
I'll talk a little about its history, then show various stages of the
installation and talk about what makes Ubuntu different from other
distros. I'll also show Kubuntu, its KDE cousin, and Edubuntu ("Linux
for young human beings").
All of this will be done on one machine (assuming nothing goes horribly
wrong), so I'll briefly review multi-OS GRUB configuration as well.
