[Newlug] Fwd: Newlug Digest, Vol 46, Issue 2

My apologies to Mike Putnam if I have offended him by publishing his
(publicly available) address information on this small, private list.
Don, this is a the information that Mike Putnam has chosen to put in
his public DNS record (see www.whois.org or any other domain registration
lookup web site for confirmation.) I don't think my post was either
unnecessary or shows any lack of judgment, especially a severe lack, since
the post was only to our tight-knit little group, all of whom I consider
friends.
Tom asked a simple question, which involved only easily available
public information that most of us computer savvy people have right at our
fingertips, so I replied. One of the reasons I posted this to our little
group, instead of directly to Tom, is that if somebody else has taken over
control of the domain name for the group, I wish they would let us know, and
that they would update our DNS info.
By the way, this question has been asked at a couple of the past
meetings, and most of us older members already knew that Mike Putnam holds
control of our domain name, unless something has changed in the past 6
months or so since we last discussed it.
Personally I have never registered any domains to my home address. You
will have to ask Mike Putnam why he chose to do that, and I wasn't
commenting on "the wisdom of home registrations" at all.
My only comment was that registering a false phone number is grounds
for losing your claim to your domain. (I thought this would be a good thing
for the rest of our tight-knit little group of IT people to know when they
register domains for their customers.)
Tom: In case you do want to call Mike Putnam, his phone number is
readily available in the Appleton phone books. If you don't have an
Appleton phone book, his address and phone number are readily available on
any internet phone search web site. I won't post the number here or email
it to you, so that I don't start another flame war...
Thanks,
Mike Schwartz
