*Calling all northeast Wisconsin coders (and interested programmers from
other nearby areas) !!*

We are trying to pull together a group of 6+ coders (up to 15 or 20 people
total), to work on a RHoK project (Random Hacks of Kindness),
http://www.rhok.org/. From the RHoK website:

"*Random Hacks of Kindness is a community of innovation focused on
developing practical open source solutions to disaster risk management and
climate change adaptation challenges. Random Hacks of Kindness was founded
in 2009 in partnership between Google, Microsoft, Yahoo!, NASA and the World
Bank. RHoK works by bringing together experts in development and volunteers
with a broad set of skills in software development and design. The goal is
to produce practical open source solutions to development problems*."

The initial plan was to host the event at UWGB with Hosung Song, one of the
CS professors, coordinating things for the campus venue. Hosung has made
arrangement for us to use a conference room and open area by his office, but
we're also open to other options if anyone else in the Green Bay has an
interest in hosting the event by providing space and a good internet
connection. This is a last minute call for participation because of delays
in hearing back from the RHoK organizers and in getting the UWGB venue lined
up. but if we can get 6 pro coders together for one or more of the time
blocks listed below for this weekend (June 3 - 5), it will be worthwhile and
a fun time meeting new tech people.

*If you want to participate please let us know by 5 PM CDT Thursday, June 2,
what 4+ hour time blocks you'd be able to meet during the time slots listed
below* to have a bit of fun and write some code. Thursday at 5 PM will be
our go/no go point. If we have one or more blocks of time with 6 or more
people committed to participate, we'll have the RHoK in Green Bay. If most
people are already committed to other events or not interested, we'll skip
this weekend and plan to schedule a winter event with more lead time.

June 2, Friday, 6 PM - midnight
June 3, Saturday, 9 AM - midnight
June 4, Sunday, noon - 6 PM

*If RHoK sounds like a worthwhile event, please forward this invitation to
other coders you know* in northeast Wisconsin. It would be great to have 50
people or more respond!

After Thursday at 5 PM, we'll send out an email letting everyone who
responds know if we got enough people to do the RHoK, as well as more
details for the event. This will be pretty informal, but will be non-alcohol
unless we find an off-campus venue.

RHoK is planned for twice per year, so if you can't participate this
weekend, but may want to join in on the next RHoK event (probably December),
please let me know.

Looking forward to meeting lots of new tech people in northeast Wisconsin!

On behalf of Hosung Song, Erin Quick-Laughlin and others in the DHMN,

Bob Waldron
